Paddle Sports

Over the past few years we have built up our paddle sports fleet and in-house instructors to cover a wide range of paddle sports:

  • Pulling – using our rowing dinghies and our gig;
  • Canoeing – using our Broadload 15 canoes;
  • Kayaking – we have expanded our fleet to provide a wider range of sizes to suit paddlers of all sizes and experience;
  • Stand Up Paddleboarding – using our SUPs and mega-SUP.

Some of which are illustrated in the following pictures:

Paddle sports are often part of our section meetings (mainly on the river outside our HQ) but we also organise weekend events specifically for paddle sports, e.g. white water sessions at Hostead Mill and swimming pool sessions to teach skills including kayak rolling.

We also take parts of our fleet on our camps, allowing us to try out different conditions, e.g. sea kayaking and kayak surfing. And our Biblins camp at the end of summer focuses on paddling on the River Wye.

Members, please see the Calendar or paddle sports linked events (shown below) for details of what events are coming up.

As well as being lots of fun, our members are able to gain different stages of the Paddle Sports badge. They are also able to work towards BCU qualifications and in due course join our qualified adult leaders in helping others learn and enjoy paddle sports.

If you would like more information about our sailing or to offer to help with it please click on Contact Us and send a message to the Activity Lead for paddle sports.
