Our powerboating fleet is based at Wroxham Broad and comprises a range of Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs) and a couple of smaller inflatables. Some of these are illustrated below:
We are fortunate sometimes to be able to extend this fleet with additional boats from our leaders and helpers – many thanks.
As well as operating at Wroxham Broad, we take our fleet to other venues to widen the range of conditions our members get to experience. In past years, we have:
- An annual “power cruise” training event on the Southern Broads specifically targeted at powerboat training;
- We take elements of our fleet to other residential events such as Easter Cruise (other parts of the Broads), Lowestoft (sea) and Summer Camp (sea).

We are an accredited RYA Training Centre and a number of our leaders hold RYA Instructor qualifications (as well as the necessary Scout permits). As well as being lots of fun, our powerboating programme provides opportunities to gain different stages of the Power Coxswain badge. Our members are also able to work towards RYA Powerboat and Safety Boat qualifications and, in due course, join our qualified team in helping others learn and enjoy sailing. Note that members with PB2 or Safety Boat qualifications may be entitled to a discount on some events.
