Consent to Participate and Group Policies

Consent to Participate and Group Policies

Completion of this form confirms that you understand that your son/daughter will be participating in a full and active sea scouting programme across all year groups, which includes outdoor and adventurous activities on land e.g. bushcraft, on and off-road cycling, pioneering, cooking etc, and on the water e.g. swimming, canoeing, kayaking, raft building and rowing. Further details of the range of activities can be found here.

Activities during the Group's scheduled weekly, evening, meetings for Cubs, Scouts and Explorers, predominantly take place at the Scout HQ, 70b Bishopgate, Norwich, NR1 4AA but there are occasional trips to other local venues, which may involve walking or traveling by minibus or similar. On trips away from the HQ, Cubs and younger Scouts will always be accompanied but Scouts and Explorers may be remotely supervised.   By requesting a place at the 8th Norwich Sea Scouts you are confirming that you understand the nature of the activities undertaken by the Group and, should you be offered a place, consenting to your child participating in these activities and attending these local trips.   You are also committing to pay the annual subscription fees as detailed on the Money Matters section of the website.

Trips that involve events/camps/residentials outside of the normal weekly meetings e.g. weekend events or camps, will be communicated separately, normally through the Group's website, with specific details provided. By signing-up to an additional event/camp/residential you are consenting to your son/daughter participating in that event as detailed on the website and committing to pay any specific fees due as detailed on the Money Matters section of the website.

Cubs, Scouts and Explorers are expected to uphold the Promise they took when they joined Scouting.   In particular, all meetings, trips and events require Cubs, Scouts and Explorers to behave in a civil and courteous manner towards each other, be respectful of leaders and members of the public and be positive ambassadors of the Scouting movement.

In completing this form you are acknowledging that you have been made aware of the Group 's policies, including Data Protection and Discipline Policies, which can be found here.

Should you have any queries about the nature of activities undertaken or any limitations your son/daughter may have with regard to participation, you should raise this in the first instance, before requesting a place, with the Group Scout Leader: gsl@8nss.org.uk

This consent will remain in place until your son/daughter leaves the Group or you alert the Group about any limitations to participation for your son/daughter.
